Cabinet clears 2.5 million houses, ₹ 587 crore for PRLSI

The Telangana cabinet gave its approval for the launch of the second phase of Indiramma houses on June 1, an allocation of ₹587 million for land acquisition for Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme and ₹1,000 for Godavari pushkarams and implementation of mid-day meal program in all junior schools.

The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, approved the construction of 2.5 lakh houses in Indiramma, allocating 2,000 houses to each assembly constituency.

In a press conference, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy informed the media that the government has also decided to complete the unfinished Indiramma houses started during undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Financial assistance of ₹ 3 lakh will be provided for houses where the foundation is completed but the walls and slabs remain unfinished, while ₹ 2 lakh will be sanctioned for houses where the walls have been completed but the slab work is yet to be completed. Funds will be allocated for the completion of 500 such houses in each constituency.

The Chief Minister will launch the second phase on June 1 and also inaugurate 28 newly constructed Indiramma houses for Kolam tribal families at Kothari village in Kerameri mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.

In view of the GHMC elections, the government has also approved the construction of one lakh houses for the Low Income Groups (LIG) in 24 assembly constituencies under three commissionerates in the city.

To make Telangana a slum-free state, the government has decided to provide houses to 15,400 slum-dwelling families across Telangana.

The Cabinet also approved ₹1,000 crore for development work related to the upcoming Godavari Pushkaral scheduled from June 26 to July 7 next year. Of this, ₹300 crore was sanctioned as the first installment.

The minister said that the state government has decided to join the Centre’s Enhanced Distribution Sector System (RDSS) to strengthen power distribution and infrastructure development. He said the previous BRS government had entered into a tripartite agreement with the Center in 2017.

“We are connecting to the system in accordance with the agreement to strengthen the electricity distribution sector,” he said, but ruled out any connection with the installation of electricity meters for agriculture.

In the education sector, the government has approved the implementation of mid-day meal program in all junior schools across the state in addition to providing breakfast and milk.

₹ 587 crore for PRLIS

Approval was also given for allocation of ₹587 crore for land acquisition, rehabilitation and infrastructural facilities of Lakshmidevi Palli reservoir under the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

To increase investment, the Cabinet approved the Life Sciences Next Generation Policy 2026–30 with the aim of making Telangana one of the top five global life sciences hubs by 2030.

The policy aims to attract $25 billion worth of investment and create five million jobs over the next five years, focusing on high-value innovation, research and development.
