
As many as 50 Buddhist monks from Thailand along with local monks will undertake a 400 km long padayatra called Buddha Dharma Dhamma Padayatra 3 from Kalaburagi to Buddhavanam in Nalgonda district of Telangana to spread Buddha’s teachings and promote peace and social harmony.
Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Thursday, Siddhartha Vihar Trust administrative officer RK Begar said the month-long padayatra will begin at Buddha Vihar in Kalaburagi on Monday.
It will pass through Mahagaon, Kamalapur, Humnabad and Mannaekhelli before culminating in Buddhavanam in Telangana on March 3.
The inaugural padayatra program will be held at Bayalu Rangamandir in Buddha Vihar on the evening of February 1.
Chairman Siddhartha Vihar Trust Rahul Kharge will attend the programme.
Mr Begar said the initiative is aimed at awakening people to the importance of the Buddha’s teachings and promoting a way of life based on compassion, non-violence and mindfulness.
