BRICS and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) deputy foreign ministers and special envoys met on Friday (24 April 2026) and expressed “deep concern” over the US-Israeli war against Iran.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) hinted at differing views at the meeting on the war, saying delegates “offered views and assessments” of the war. This was India’s first statement on the situation in the Persian Gulf as the chair of BRICS, whose ministerial meeting is scheduled to be held in Delhi next month.
