Chinese President Xi Jinping warned against a return to the “law of the jungle” in international relations and called for closer economic ties with Spain when he met Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday (14 April 2026), Chinese state media reported.
The meeting in Beijing came on the second day of a visit by Mr Sanchez as he seeks to position Spain as a bridge between China and the European Union, whose relations with the United States are strained.
