Actor and producer Brad Pitt has won a partial victory in his long-running legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over Château Miraval, the French wine estate the former couple once owned together and where they married in 2014.

Court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court show that Judge Cindy Pánuco partially granted Pitt’s request to question several business associates connected to Jolie’s former stake in the winery. The ruling is the latest twist in a closely watched lawsuit that has been ongoing since 2022 and centers on the sale of Jolie’s stake in the wine business.

Pitt and Jolie, who finalized their divorce in 2019 after years of separation proceedings, remain locked in a lawsuit over Château Miraval, a sprawling estate in southern France they bought together in 2008. The property, worth about $164 million, has become one of the world’s most famous celebrity-owned wineries during their relationship.

The legal battle began in February 2022 when Pitt filed a lawsuit alleging Jolie sold her stake in the property to an investment group tied to the Stoli Group without obtaining his approval. Pitt claimed in his filing that the pair had previously agreed that neither would sell a stake in the business without the other’s consent.

In her latest ruling, Judge Pánuco ordered the dismissal of spirits manager Alexey Oliynik, who sits on the board of Stoli Group along with representatives from Tenute Del Mondo and Nouvel. Tenute Del Mondo runs the wine arm of the Stoli Group, while Nouvel is the investment company that once held Jolie’s 50 percent stake in Château Miraval.

The court also ordered the companies to provide Pitt’s legal team with dates for Oliynikov’s testimony by August 7. On the same date, Marina Troyanovskaya, head of marketing of Stoli Group, must confirm the availability.

Still, the judge didn’t grant every one of Pitt’s requests. Judge Pánuco rejected his proposal for sanctions or financial penalties against the other party in connection with the discovery process.

The decision follows an application first filed by Pitt in June 2025 seeking testimony from people involved in the ownership structure and sale of the winery. Earlier this week, both Tenute Del Mondo and Nouvel formally objected to the deposition requests, saying they were not necessary for the case.

The dispute over Château Miraval has grown into one of the most bitter parts of Pitt and Jolie’s post-divorce legal battle, which has gone beyond family matters into issues of business ownership, contractual terms and international corporate interests.

For now, the latest ruling gives Pitt a procedural advantage, but the wider dispute over Château Miraval is still far from over and is expected to continue as the two sides push their competing claims over ownership and control of the winery.
