The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (May 12, 2026) condemned DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma in the State Assembly.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, via a post on X, said, “DMK’s poisonous politics, anti-Hindu rhetoric, corruption and dynastic politics have all been vehemently rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu. This is not the first time that INDI alliance leaders under Rahul Gandhi have spewed the poison of DK civilization – the soul of Bharatana civilization from Bharatatana.”
“It is high time your prejudiced side introspected before people completely eradicate your divisive and dangerous side,” he said.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “This is not an accident but an exercise in vote bank politics… earlier the Supreme Court called this hate speech but the Congress supported the statement. Congress, TMC, SP and DMK have one plan: to insult Sanatan Hindus to drive their vote bank politics.”
He also targeted the Congress for “supporting” anti-Hindu commentary and questioned newly elected Chief Minister Vijay’s “silence” on the matter.
The party’s IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya also said, “The last time Udhayanidhi Stalin talked about ‘eradicating’ Sanatana Dharma, the courts called it hate speech and the people of Tamil Nadu pushed his party into opposition. This time he may be hiding behind the immunity given to him by the legislature, but there are some lines that cannot be crossed by a million political bravado; arrogance and this time the divine retribution will be searing.”
