The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) again demanded “swift and decisive” action by the Election Commission of India (EC) on the complaint it raised regarding the Rajya Sabha election issue and the issuance of second ballots to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs Chāpahpura Settrahy Upasana. The elections to the upper house were held on March 16.
In an email to the EC, BJD Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra reminded the Commission of his party’s March 18 complaint about the “illegal” issuance of second ballots to two MLAs during the poll. The regional party objected to the issuance of second ballots.
