
The number of voters in Bihar decreased by 65 Lakh, according to Bihar’s design role, which was published by the Election Commission on Friday after the first phase of its special intensive inspection exercise.
More than 7.24 Crore voters in the state filled out the list forms and included in the role proposal, ECI said in its statement. Before exercising Sir, 7.89 Crore voters were registered before SIR exercise. ECI said most of these 65 lakhs died “missing” voters, registered in two places, permanently migrated from Bihar, or is inexhaustible.
The leaders of the opposition India Bloc in the State said that ECI did not answer their questions about the names omitted in the list of proposals. According to data shared by the main election officer Bihar (CEO) Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, the capital of Patna has the highest number of 3.95 lakh voters who are not included in the list. In each of the three East Champaran, Madhubani and Gopalganj districts, more than 3 Lakh selectors are missing. Another ten districts recorded a drop of 2 Lakh voters, while 13 districts recorded a decrease in the role of more than one lakh voters.
Claims and objections
ECI reflected all eligible voters to check their names in the list of suggestions available on the ECI portal. If their names are not on the list, it was asked to fill in and submit form 6 together with the Declaration Form specified in the instructions of SIR, ECI said. The opposition parties dubbed Sir as an effort to bring the National Citizens’ Register (NRC) through the “backdoor” process.
