Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Thursday (November 06, 2025) called for a change of government in this election in view of the 20-year rule of the NDA government in Bihar.
“Tawa se roti palatati rahni chahiye nhi toh jal jayegi (roti should keep turning tawa otherwise it will burn) 20 years is too long! Now Tejashwi government is extremely necessary for youth government and new Bihar,” Mr Lalu Prasad said in a post on X.

Mr Lalu Prasad also shared a photo of himself with his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav after casting his votes.
Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar cast his vote in the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Accompanied by a small entourage, Mr. Kumar reached the polling booth in Bakhtiyarpur constituency and exercised his right to vote.
In a post on X earlier, Chief Minister Kumar urged voters to exercise their right to vote in the festival of democracy. “In a democracy, voting is not only our right but also our duty. Voting for the first phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections is underway today — all voters are encouraged to exercise their voting rights. Vote and encourage others to do the same. First vote, then refreshments!” Mr. Kumar posted on X.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), a voter turnout of 13.3% was recorded till 9 am in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. The highest voter turnout of 15.27% was recorded in Saharsa district in the state among all districts, while Lakhisarai saw a slow turnout of 7%.
As of 9 am, a voter turnout of 14.60% was recorded in Begusarai district, followed by 13.11% in Bhojpur, 13.28% in Buxar, 12.48% in Darbhanga, 13.97% in Gopalganj, 14.15% in Khagaria, 1,374% in Munger, 14.38% in Muzaffarpur, 12.45% in Nalanda, 11.22% in Patna, 12.86% in Samastipur, 13.30% in Saran, 12.97% in Sheikhpura, 13.35% in Siwan and 14.30% in Vaishali.
The first phase of assembly elections 2025 in Bihar began today at 7:00 am in 121 constituencies in 18 districts of the state covering around 3.75 lakh voters and 243 seats. Voting will end at 6:00 p.m., and for security reasons, the voting time in some constituencies has been shortened to 5:00 p.m.
The first phase will decide the fate of several senior leaders including RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Mangal Pandey and JD(U)’s Shravan Kumar and Vijay Kumar Choudhary. Tej Pratap Yadav is also in the game in the first phase.
In 2020, voting took place in three phases. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 125 seats while the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB) won 110. Among the major parties, the Janata Dal (United) won 43 seats, the BJP 74, the RJD 75 seats and the Congress 19. contested 144 seats and the Congress 70.
