The five-time champions, already out of contention for the play-offs, confirmed that both players are currently recovering at home after picking up separate injuries during the tournament. De Kock injured a tendon in his left wrist ahead of Mumbai’s game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, ending a tough season for the veteran South African wicketkeeper. The left-hander last played for MI on April 23 and has managed 132 runs from three innings this season, including a stunning unbeaten 112 against Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, Chandigarh all-rounder Bawa suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb during Mumbai’s previous match against Punjab Kings. The 23-year-old has played three matches this season after also featuring in three matches during IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians said replacements for both players will be announced later as per IPL regulations. IPL 2026 has been a disappointment for MI as they currently sit ninth in the points table with just four wins from 12 matches and a net success rate of -0.504.They have two matches left in this season — against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on May 20 and Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on May 24. While Mumbai are already out of playoff contention, they could still play a major role in shaping the top four race, with both KKR and RR still fighting for qualification.
