Former Head of the Department of Anatomy at Kannur Dental College, a private management institution in Anjarakandy, MK Ram approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the death of BDS first year student Nithin Raj.
A student was found dead on April 10 on the college campus in a suspected suicide. In his application for bail in the Supreme Court, Dr. Ram denied harassing the student on the basis of his caste or skin. He denied any role in the student’s death, claiming the student was under pressure due to “harassment by loan application operators as a result of his alleged default”. The student gave the app operators the phone number of the teacher, who also started harassing her. Subsequently, she filed a complaint with the director and named the student as well.
