Kolkata Knight Riders (KRK) Spinner Varun Chakravarthy was fined 25% of his match fee and on Wednesday he received one Demeit point for violating the IPL behavior Code during his conflict with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Eden Gardens.
While the IPL management authority has not been processed about a particular incident, the violation was classified as a level 1 criminal offense according to Article 2.5 of the Code of Behavior. The article concerns events, gestures or language focused on the discharged dough that could trigger an aggressive reaction. Chakravarthy showed Dewald Brevis to leave the field after he dismissed the Ho-Oct that led to the sanction.
“Varun Chakravarthy admitted to the offense of Level 1 according to Article 2.5 and accepted the sanction of the judge,” IPL read. According to the rules, the decision of the Referee match is final and binding.
Chakravarthy returned excellent figures 2 to 18 in four crossings and released a dangerous brevis, which powered CSK’s persecution by fast 52 of 25 balls. The breakthrough moment offered a KRK flash of hope, but their defense 179 eventually did not reach. The loss meant a significant failure for double champions who now find themselves sixth in the point table with 11 points out of 12 matches.
There are only two league games left, KKR must win both – against Sunrisers Hyderabad 10. May and Royal Challengers Bengaluru 17. May – to stay in Play -off. This may not be enough, as they will need favorable results elsewhere. However, a relatively healthy net running rate of +0.193 could be a key resolution if more teams end up on similar points.
