
The anniversary of the birth of the 12th century Basavanna (Basaveshware) will be first celebrated in Parliament in Nový Delhi on April 30, said V. Somanna, State Minister of Railways.

In addition to Karnataka, requests from Maharashtra, Keraly, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were adopted to celebrate the anniversary of Basavann’s birth. Therefore, steps will be taken to celebrate in other countries, said Mr. Somanna.
Rename Gulbarga University
Mr. Somanna urged the state government to rename Basavann Gulbarg University in Kalaburagag.
Previously, when the government was in power, the then chief Minister JH Patel decided to appoint Gulbarg University after Basavann. This also agreed with all its members of the Cabinet. However, at the end of the patella’s tennic, no politician showed any willingness to name Gulbarg University after Basavann. “The state government should at least rename this after Basavanna,” he demanded.
