Bangladesh set to face India in Women’s Asia Cup semi-finals, Pakistan to face Sri Lanka

Bangladesh booked a semi-final clash with India in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup after beating the United Arab Emirates by 34 runs in Dubai on Tuesday. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the next four matches.

The win helped Bangladesh bounce back from their defeat to Sri Lanka to complete their semi-final line-up. India topped Group A while Sri Lanka finished first in Group B.

India will take on Bangladesh in the first semi-final on Thursday, September 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the match is scheduled to start at 20:00 IST. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka at the same venue on Friday, September 11, also at 20:00 IST.

BANGLADESH OVERCOME THE UAE SHOOT

Bangladesh were sent in to bat but struggled to gain momentum and finished on 103 for seven. Sharmin Akhter top scored with 38 off 31 balls while skipper Nigar Sultana made 23 off 28.

Nahida Akter provided crucial late support, scoring 16 and sharing a 42-run stand for the seventh wicket with Sharmin after Bangladesh slipped to 55 for six. She then returned with the ball and claimed 4-0-18-2.

Marufa Akter continued her good form from the Sri Lanka match by taking two wickets for nine runs while Rabeya Khan took three wickets. UAE’s Suraksha Kotte was the outstanding bowler and finished with figures of 4-0-11-3.

The UAE’s chase never got going as the Bangladeshi bowlers went on strike at regular intervals. The hosts finished on 69 for nine in 20 overs, giving Bangladesh a comprehensive victory and the final berth in the semi-finals.

A TOUGH CHALLENGE AHEAD IN BANGLADESH

Bangladesh now faces a dire problem An Indian side that won all three matches in the group. India also produced a dominant seven-wicket win over Pakistan after bowling them out for just 55.

Smriti Mandhana is among India’s top performers as he smashed 124 off 64 balls against Hong Kong for a 137-run win. Her innings also made her the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket.

Deepti Sharma became the leading wicket-taker in the Women’s T20Is as she edged Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong. Shafali Verma also became the youngest and fastest to reach the milestone of 3000 runs in women’s T20Is.

Meanwhile, Pakistan booked their place in the semi-finals with a 72-run win over Hong Kong. They will face unbeaten Sri Lanka, who earlier beat Bangladesh by four wickets and are also the defending champions.
