At just one gram and eight millimeters, a Srikakulam researcher’s wind turbine entered the International Book of Records

The wind turbine, which is eight millimeters tall and weighs one gram, has earned Maheswaram Bhanu Chandhar, a young researcher from Narasannapet in Srikakulam district, a place in the International Book of Records.

Mr. Bhanu Chandhar built a turbine from copper sheets, a small DC motor and a drop of enamel paint. It spins without sound. The International Book of Records recognized it as an innovative project and recently awarded it a certificate of world record.

He teaches in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sri Sivani College of Engineering in Chilakapalem, Srikakulam district, where the management and his colleagues congratulated him for the recognition.

“The small turbine is functional and useful in space technology and robotics in the future. I will continue to do further research on the project,” he told The Hindu. His research has focused on smart grids and renewable energy systems. “In the future, I intend to conduct extensive research on green energy and share this knowledge with students,” he said.
