Aston Villa have reportedly been alerted to growing interest from several Premier League clubs in one of their players, amid speculation of a potential summer transfer.
Emery Thrilled with Brentford Victory
Following a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in their previous Premier League match, Aston Villa bounced back with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. Ollie Watkins’ second-half goal proved decisive, securing all three points for Unai Emery’s side and moving them up to seventh place in the league table.
Speaking after the match, Emery lauded his team, particularly goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who stepped in for the injured Emi Martinez, and the defensive line. “Olsen did a fantastic job today, and the back four as well—fantastic job,” Emery said, as reported by The Birmingham Mail. “These three points give us the confidence and belief to continue pushing for a European position.”
Emery also highlighted the performance of Axel Disasi, who is on loan from Chelsea, praising the defender after he was named Man of the Match for his display at right-back. “When he played against Liverpool as a centre-back, he did well. As a right full-back at Palace and Brugge, he gradually improved and gained confidence. Today, he took another step forward and performed even better,” Emery commented.
Villa Face Premier League Competition for Disasi
Since joining Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea in February, Disasi has started five of the six matches he has been eligible for, consistently impressing with his defensive prowess. Villa fans have dubbed him a “monster,” while Jamie Carragher described his performances as “brilliant.” Reports from France suggest Villa are keen to secure Disasi’s permanent signing in the summer, but they will face competition from other Premier League clubs.
Foot Mercato reveals that several English sides have been impressed by Disasi’s performances, though the specific clubs remain unnamed. Villa have been cautioned to be “wary” of the domestic competition for the French defender.
Disasi himself has hinted at a desire to remain at Villa Park beyond his loan spell, stating, “They brought me here to help, and I’m ready. For now, I’m here for six months, but after that, who knows? We’ll see what happens.”
In other transfer news, Aston Villa are reportedly close to completing a permanent deal for Marco Asensio, who has impressed during his loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain. Former Villa CEO Keith Wyness expressed confidence in the signing, telling Football Insider, “I think they’ll push ahead and sign him. Emery has been a huge fan for many years. He’s a talent and fits the number ten role Emery wants him to play. I think they’ll do it.”
