Asian Para Games: Bhavikkumar stripped of men’s 400m T47 silver for lane violation

India’s Bhavikkumar Bharwad was stripped of his silver medal in the men’s 400m T47 final at the Asian Para Games after he was disqualified for a lane violation. Bharwad initially finished second in 49.31 seconds, behind compatriot Dilip Gavit, who won the gold in 48.27 seconds. However, the updated results listed Bharwad as disqualified after protesting a second lane violation.

Dilip Mahadu Gavit (TOPS) won the gold medal with a time of 48.27 seconds while Bhavikkumar Bharwad (NCoE) was disqualified. Gavit also won gold at the 2022 Asian Para Games in 49.48 seconds. In 2026, he improved his winning time to 48.27 seconds.

Japan’s Kakeru Ishida, who originally finished third in 49.58 seconds, was promoted to silver, while Uzbekistan’s Marufjon Murodulloev and Sri Lanka’s Saman Subasinghe shared third place in 50.03 seconds. Gavit’s gold medal was intact.

Gavit also won gold in the men’s 100m on Wednesday, adding another medal to India’s Asian Para Games campaign.
