Asian Games: India wins silver in women’s 50m 3P rifle; Tilottama, Vidarsa enter singles final

(Image: IANS) Indian shooters continued their medal run at the Asian Games as Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K. Vinod and Ashi Chouksey jointly claimed silver in the women’s 50m 3-position team event. The Indian trio finished with 1,763 points, 10 behind gold medalists China, who equaled their own Games record with a total of 1,773.The silver medal was a double boost for India, with Tilottama and Vidarsa qualifying for the singles final after finishing third and sixth respectively. Ashi, despite contributing to the team’s podium finish, missed out on an individual final placing.

Tilottama leads the Indian wards

Tilottama emerged as India’s best performer in the qualifiers, finishing third with 590 points. She started strong with a 197 in the knee and followed it up with a 198 in the prone. The Indian shooter then held her nerve and registered series of 97 and 98 to book her place in the final.Only two Chinese shooters finished ahead of Tilottam with scores of 594 and 591.

Vidarsa fights his way back to last place

Vidarsa staged an impressive comeback after a difficult start to their qualifying campaign. A knee score of 193 allowed her to break even, but she responded with an excellent 199 and was prone to slip up the order.She saved her strongest result for the standings as she shot consecutive 98 runs to take her total to 588. A late surge took her to sixth place and secured India’s second spot in the singles final.

Ashi misses the final but contributes to the team’s silver

Ashi Chouksey finished 15th with 585 points and missed out on a place in the singles final. After scoring 196 in the squat and an impressive 199 in the stomach, Ashi was well placed heading into the standing section. However, a 93 in her opening series stand proved costly. She recovered with a 97 in her final series but failed to break into the top eight.However, Ashi’s contribution was crucial to India’s total score of 1,763, which secured the team silver behind China.With the team medal secured, India’s attention now turns to the individual finals, starting at 9:30 am IST. Tilottama and Vidarsa will be looking to build on their qualifying performances to add to India’s shooting medals tally.
