Asian Games 2026 Live Sep 26: India kicks off archery, looks for more athletics medals

Day eight of the Asian Games promises another busy schedule for India, with medal opportunities spread across multiple disciplines from early morning.

The action begins at 4:00 AM IST when Sawan Barwal and Kartik Karkera square off in the men’s marathon final. The women’s 50m rifle 3-position team will then be in action at 6.15am, with India hoping to add to the shooting medal haul.

The sprint canoe will provide another medal opportunity as Raju Rawat and L Neha Devi compete in the 500m mixed canoe A final.

Kabaddi will take center stage later in the morning with both the Indian teams playing gold matches against Iran. The women’s final is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., while the men’s title battle will begin at 2:30 p.m.

There will also be plenty of action in squash. Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar will feature in the mixed doubles semifinals, while Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh will compete in their respective singles semifinals.

The athletics program will provide the biggest medal opportunities of the evening. Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Karanveer Singh will compete in the men’s shot put final, followed by Praveen Chithravel and Karthik Unnikrishnan in the men’s triple jump final. Parul Chaudhary and Pooja will then take to the track for the women’s 1500m final.

Indian athletes and teams will also be in action across badminton, boxing, fencing, archery, hockey, table tennis, surfing, sailing and esports, making Day 8 another eventful one for the Indian contingent.
