APSRTC staff are working to revive the old cashless medical referral system
Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPTD-APSRTC) Employees Union have urged the authorities to restore cashless medical treatment under the old employee referral system.
Union State President P. Damodara Rao said the health problems faced by APSRTC employees were brought to the notice of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) officials at a meeting of the EHS Joint Committee members held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Director General.
The officials were told that the current EHS system is not providing the expected benefits to the APSRTC employees and that the employees and their family members are facing difficulties in getting cashless treatment in hospitals.
Union officials urged APSRTC officials to issue clear guidelines to empaneled hospitals to ensure that employees do not face problems like rejection of EHS cards or denial of cashless treatment when they approach hospitals for urgent treatment.
They said the referral and hospital system that was in place before APSRTC merged with the government was useful to the employees and sought its restoration.
They also demanded immediate settlement of medical reimbursement bills pending under EHS for a long time and special measures to avoid delays in approval of EHS for retired employees.
