15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed his way to his second Indian Premier League hundred in just 36 balls on Saturday, April 25. SunRisers Hyderabad felt the full wrath of the youngster in Jaipur where he looked with menacing touch. Vaibhav blasted his way to the third fastest IPL hundred of all time and now has two of the three fastest milestones to his name. Last season, he hit his first hundred against Gujarat Titans in 35 balls and made history as the youngest player to achieve the elite feat.
Vaibhav came out with intent on Saturday and hit Praful Hinge for four straight sixes in the very first over. It was an exceptional display of intent from the batsman who was dismissed for a golden duck against SRH in their previous encounter this season.

Vaibhav’s failure in that game saw Rajasthan choke in a simple chase of 217, handing them their first defeat of the season. RR lost momentum after this game, which moved Vaibhav to tears after their loss against Kolkata Knight Riders on 19 April.
VAIBHAVA SOORYAVANSHI’S FILL
However, he did not do the same today. When Praful Hinge tried the same trick to go short against the left-hander, Vaibhav shook himself and crushed him for a six on the leg side. If that show of intent wasn’t enough, he repeated it four more times, racing to 30 from just 6 balls.
He continued to raid SRH’s bowling as Dhruv Jurel took his time to settle into his rhythm. Vaibhav was particularly punishing against SRH’s other uncapped pacer, Sakib Hussain, hitting him for two sixes and a four in the 14th over of the match to reach his hundred.
On Saturday, Vaibhav went hammer and tongs hitting 12 sixes and just 5 fours. At no point in his innings was he interested in keeping the ball on the ground.
However, Sakib managed to dismiss Vaibhav on the very next ball after scoring his set. Sakib bowled a full ball over the wicket. Vaibhav was unable to judge the slower ball and failed to connect with the reverse spinner. The ball hit him flush to the left pad and the field umpire gave him out.
IPL: ROYALS EVEN FOR 228
After Vaibhav’s dismissal, Rajasthan’s pace deteriorated significantly. Pat Cummins, Praful Hinge and Ehsan Malinga shouldered the burden to restrict Rajasthan to a total of 228 runs.
To put things in context, Rajasthan crossed the 100-run mark in the 9th over and looked set for a total of 240+.
Earlier on Saturday, Delhi Capitals played a high-scoring encounter against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi scored a mammoth total of 264 runs but eventually lost the match. Led by Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer, Punjab chased down the record target in just 18.5 overs.
