Andhra Pradesh to get 750 e-buses under PM E-Bus Sewa scheme, says Pemmasani

Andhra Pradesh is set to introduce 750 electric buses under the Prime Minister’s Electric Bus Sewa scheme, a push to modernize public transport in the state, backed by both the Center and the state government. Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar on Friday (May 29, 2026) reviewed the project preparations with officials of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), AP Transco and other departments at his office in Guntur.
Under the allocations, Guntur and Vijayawada have been sanctioned 100 electric buses each and Mangalagiri will get 50. The state will get 621 12-metre buses with a seating capacity of 35+1 and 129 9-metre buses with a seating capacity of 25+1, totaling 1750 passengers.
Officials discussed in detail the charging stations, power supply, depots and supporting infrastructure required to run the buses. The initiative aims to provide clean, comfortable and modern transport services while reducing urban pollution, officials said.
Mr. Pemmasani told the officials to speed up all the processes and get the buses operational by the end of 2026. Guntur has been allocated ₹27.49 crore for civil and electrical works and Mangalagiri nearly ₹16.25 crore for infrastructure development.
The cities approved by the buses are Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nellore, Kurnool, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Kadapa, Amaravati, Tirupati and Anantapur.
