The Andhra Pradesh government has set a target of generating ₹220 crore from mining activities in Prakasam district, Collector P. Rajababu said while inspecting the granite quarry along with Santhanuthalapadu MLA BN Vijay Kumar in Chimakurthi town on Wednesday. He added that mining in the district generated ₹180 crore last year
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government was taking steps to increase revenue from mining activities in the district. He ordered mine owners to focus on mining waste management and stressed the importance of taking care of miners’ health.
He said the district authorities were on the job to identify the site for the mining waste dump and assured the mine owners that the administration would always be at the forefront to address their concerns. He further warned that strict action would be taken against the erring officials and directed them to conduct the online land process as per the rules.
Speaking to the miners, MLA BN Vijay Kumar said, “Mining activities must be carried out without causing any inconvenience to the people. The government is focusing on meeting the needs of the people by utilizing the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds. Field visits will be conducted every month to ensure that the government provides the necessary assistance to the mine owners.” “Mine owners should not break any rules in matters of environmental pollution and worker health care,” he added. Earlier, mining department officials explained the mining process of granite stones in collector and MLA quarry.
