Andhra Pradesh government steps up efforts to trace Telugus stranded in Nepal floods

The Andhra Pradesh government has stepped up efforts to locate and evacuate the state’s residents stranded or missing in flash floods in Nepal.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to identify Andhra Pradesh residents who were affected by the disaster and take immediate steps to shift them to safe places. The state government coordinates with the central government and continuously monitors developments through the Real Time Management (RTG) system.

A control room has been set up at AP Bhavan in New Delhi to collect information about stranded tourists and pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh and provide relief to them and their families. The Chief Minister directed the officials to maintain round-the-clock coordination with the authorities and provide all possible assistance to the affected pilgrims and tourists from the state.

An alert issued to stranded passengers and pilgrims urges them to remain calm and seek help immediately. Those in need of rescue can contact the Nepal Army at 01-5979224 / 9851072914; the Nepal Police emergency number is 100, the emergency number is 102 and the tourist police can be reached on 1144 or 01-4247041.

Indian citizens who need help can contact the designated 24/7 helpline at +977-9851316807. Those seeking help should include their name, passport number, exact location, contact number, number of people stranded, medical requirements and last known location. People stranded in the affected areas were advised to stay in elevated and safe places, keep their phones charged, avoid flooding and follow evacuation instructions.

According to the situation report, several areas including Syapru Besi and Timure, important transit and acclimatization points for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims, were severely affected. Rescue operations are being carried out by the Nepalese army, police and paramilitary forces.

Families trying to trace the missing persons have been advised to contact the Nepal Tourist Police on 1144 and the relevant embassy and provide passport details and the person’s last known location.

As the situation remains unclear, the Andhra Pradesh government has urged people to remain alert and immediately share information about any residents of the state who may be stranded or missing in Nepal.
