An elevator accident at a private hospital in Karimnagar on Wednesday evening has raised concerns about the maintenance of elevators and the safety of patients and visitors.
It may be mentioned that Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar had a narrow escape when a lift at a private hospital in the city suddenly fell from the first floor due to a ‘technical fault’. No one was injured in the incident.
The incident occurred when the minister visited the hospital to inquire about the health condition of a patient from Dharmapuri constituency who is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Meanwhile, District Congress Committee (DCC) president and Choppadandi MLA Medipalli Sathyam on Thursday urged the district authorities to order a comprehensive probe into allegations of irregularities and poor maintenance of basic facilities including lifts in several private hospitals in the city.
