(Bloomberg) – Prime Minister Anthony Albanese strongly condemned the shooting of Australian journalist with a gum bullet during the protests in Los Angeles and described the footage of the incident as “terrible”.
Albanese said his government had represented Trump’s administration over the incident. The video released online showed that nine news reporters Lauren Tomasi were hit by a rubber bullet that seemed to be released by a police officer while covering protests in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said he was talking to Tomas, who said he was “okay”.
“The shots were terrible,” Albanese said after the National Press Club in Canberra on Tuesday. “We have already raised these problems with the US administration. We do not consider it acceptable that this happened and we think that the role of media is particularly important.”
Asked if they think Tomasi was intentionally focused on being a member of the media, Albanese said she was “clearly identified” as a journalist. “There is no ambiguity,” he added.
In the post on the Social Media website, nine reports said LA police had made a “formal investigation” of the incident.
Albanese is to travel to the group of seven meetings in Canada in a few days, when he can conduct his first personal interview with President Donald Trump. It comes in the middle of the ongoing demonstrations in Los Angeles, which began after raids in the city of immigration and agents for the recovery of the customs authorities.
While Trump and Albanians seem to have received relationships for a good start in their initial telephone conversations, negotiations on exceptions to Australian steel and aluminum will test these personal ties.
The Prime Minister on the left of the left Wednesday said he did not intend to give many reasons for issues that Trump’s administration specifically emphasized, including the Australian interventions of US giants in the US in the country and limiting imports of American meat.
Albanese was re -elected for the second term in the lessels of land 3. May, about six months after Trump was elected to the White House for the second term.
