An Air India flight was diverted to Mongolia
Air India flight AI174 was diverted to the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar on Monday en route from Delhi when the flight crew suspected a technical snag.
On Monday, the Tata Group-owned carrier said: “AI174 operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar after the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route.”
The Boeing 777 operating the flight landed safely in Ulaanbaatar.
Passengers from the Air India flight to Delhi via Kolkata were disembarked and given hotel arrangements, an Air India spokesperson said.
In a post on X, the statement said: “AI174 on November 2, 2025, operating from San Francisco to Delhi, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport, Mongolia. With the help of our partners and local authorities, Air India extended immediate assistance to passengers. They were served food on board and were disembarked. After clearing immigration procedures at Air India Airport, they made hotel arrangements for an alternate stay at Air India Airport.” Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen diversion, which was done in the interest of safety.
