Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday (February 21, 2026) expressed concern over what he described as the increasing number of communal incidents in Telangana, touching upon the recent incidents in Banswada and Sadasivpet.
Mr. Owaisi approached X and demanded that a First Information Report (FIR) be registered and that a proper investigation be conducted into the Banswada incident. He struggled to establish how a large crowd could have mobilized within hours, although he said videos circulating on social media showed members of the right-wing group engaged in criminal activity.
Mr Owaisi, who is president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), said shops and street vendors belonging to the minority community were specifically targeted during the violence.
The AIMIM president said he is in touch with the party’s district general secretary, Kamareddy, Sayeed Khan, and has instructed him to prepare a report on the damage caused by the mob violence. He demanded that the state government should compensate the people whose property was damaged and said that AIMIM would extend relief and assistance to the affected persons.
Referring to the demolition of Masjid-e-Moulana in Sadasivpet by the revenue authorities, Mr. Owaisi said he had asked Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and district party president Sheikh Ghouse to hold discussions with local officials. He said the owner of the land, Mohd Kaleem, had bought the land from an individual identified as Raju and had been in possession of it for the past two years, during which the borehole was also dug.
Mr. Owaisi alleged that the owner was facing harassment from anti-social elements from the beginning and questioned why the revenue authorities, who claimed the property to be their own land, acted only after the shed was constructed and not at any time during the previous two years.
The increasing number of communal incidents in Telangana is very worrying. I spoke to the SP, Kamareddy and demanded that an FIR be filed and a proper investigation be conducted #Banswada violence. How is it possible that such a large crowd was mobilized within a few…
