AICC functionary Suraj Hegde died in Bengaluru

All India Congress Committee Secretary and Karnataka Guarantee Implementation Committee Vice Chairman Suraj Hegde died late on Sunday (June 7, 2026) night of cardiac arrest.

The young leader was the vice-president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and was in charge of the Indian Youth Congress. Mr. Hegde’s grandfather, Chief Minister Late D. Devaraj Urs, a senior OBC leader, was known for his land reforms and brought many young leaders among the backward classes.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun M. Kharge, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and KPCC President BK Hariprasad were among the many leaders who expressed condolences over Mr. Hegde’s death.
