If he wins the Sholinganallur seat this time, it will be a comeback for AIADMK’s KP Kandan, a former MLA of the constituency from 2011-2016 and a three-time Perungudi Panchayat president from 1996-2011. Currently, the party’s Chennai Suburban claims that the problems faced by the residents of the suburban district in the Constituency.
“The DMK failed to maintain the assets created by the AIADMK. During my tenure as panchayat president, I developed the basic infrastructure. When I became an MLA, I got more areas to serve. I improved those areas that were outside the Chennai Corporation. They lacked facilities like good roads, drinking water and even lighting. Garbage clearance was a major problem as the number of houses in Perungugardi increased,” he said. Mr Kandan told The Hindu in the middle of his campaign.
