India with its rich culture and diverse landscape has become an attractive destination for foreigners. The growing number of expats, students and digital nomads decide to settle in the country. Many often share their experience on social media – and Julia Chaigneau from France is among them. Chaigneau remains in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and he described the dry condition as one of the “safest places” in India.
The woman shared her experience on X and revealed that she was afraid to move to India, especially after her friends warned her against security fears in the country.
“As a woman, security is always in mind. So when I first moved to India, many of my friends worried about me,” she wrote.
She also added that her perspective moved after she lived in dry state.
“That made me see how a certain choice at the city level could actually influence how safe they feel,” wrote Mrs. Chaigneau on X.
Why did she feel safe in Ahmedabad?
She said she was lucky to live in a closed community that combined the Indians and foreigners and created a sense of warmth and safety.
“That does not mean that everywhere in India is safe – every city and each state is different – but from my experience Ahmedabad was really great to live,” she said.
How did people react to her contribution?
The viral post has already exceeded 3.2 Lakh’s views and attracted hundreds of comments, with most users repeated their views on Ahmedabad.
“Ahmedabad is the best. I live here all my life and security is definitely plus,” one user said.
“As far as I am concerned, most places in Gujarate are safe. I never feel safer than in Gujarat,” another wrote.
The third one added: “Absolutely. In fact, I would expand it to include most of Gujarat and all his cities like Surrat, Vadodar and Rajkot.”
The fourth said, “Absolutely. Ahmedabad is amazing for women. I was here for 15 or more, and I don’t have to think twice before you take a taxi or go at 2 in the morning.”
Did she accept Indian culture?
During her stay in India, Chaigneau deeply accepted local culture and tradition. She recently shared photographs of herself and enjoyed the “incredible” Onam Sadhya – a large vegetarian feast of almost 26 meals served on a banana sheet.
