The Indian Election Commission (ECI) has launched preparations for the implementation of a special intensive revision (Sir) of election roles in Delhi to ensure that voters are accurate and inclusive. This comes in the middle of a political line over a similar exercise in Bihar tied to the vote.
The exact data for Sir Dilli Exercises has not yet been announced, but the Office of the Chief Election Officer Dilli (CEO) said that anyone whose name does not appear on the 2002 voters list will have to provide identification evidence when submitting the list.

“The general public is hereby informed that the Commission has decided to initiate a special intensive revision (SIR) throughout the country for the release of the constitutional mandate to protect the integrity of electoral roles,” said the Declaration of the CEO Delhi, adding that a special inspection unit was carried out in the national capital.
Certainly, registered voters in Delhi no longer have to submit any evidence – but only the list of the list – if their names are not on the roles of 2002, the election commission said. For those whose names are not in the 2002 list, the process would be the same as in Bihar. Parents’ names on the list of older voters and/or evidence of identity and stay will be required to stay on the roles.
The panel has not yet captured the list of Documenst, which will be required as evidence, although the Supreme Court in Bihar Sir Case insisted that Aadhaar can be considered as evidence of identity and not citizenship.
The Supreme Court hear petitions against Bihar. The last hearing in case it is probably next month. The Supreme Court stated that the judgment would apply to all of India, the court said.
Sir to be carried through India
The vote panel previously indicated that what started in Bihar would be replicated all over the country. Last month, the main commissioner of the Gyanesh Kumar election, who dealt with a press conference on the Sir in West Bengal, said that a suitable date for exercising throughout the country would soon be announced.

Annemement triggered a political series with the ruling Congress of Trinamool, who claimed to oppose the Bihar Sir in West Bengals, where the elections are planned next year.
What did the CEO of Delhi say?
In the Social Media post, Delhi, CEO, uploaded the list of voters from 2002 online and mapped the current line -up districts on those of 2002 to help voters check whether their names (or their parents’ names) appear in this earlier list.
“All concerns’ officers, election registration officers, election registrations and stalls (BLOS)-they were designed by training,” the official statement made by the CEO of the director said.
BLOS was named in each election district of the Assembly for House-To-House (H2H) during Sir. Voters are asked to verify names in the 2002 list for themselves and for their parents.
“Those whose names appear on voters ‘lists in 2002 and 2025 must present only the list forms together with an excerpt from the 2002 voters’ list,” the statement said.
If the 2002 list is missing the name of the voter, but their parents are listed, the voter must provide in addition to the list and excerpts showing their parents on the 2002 list.
The CEO’s website already contains a list of Sir voters from 2002 and shows how the current election districts correspond to those existing in 2002 to make it easier to verify.
Line over Bihar sir
Sir in Bihar has been the first such process in the state since 2003, provoking a strong political debate. They claimed that many legitimate voters were removed from roles without sufficient verification.
The aim was to ensure that voters were included, while those who are not eligible are excluded.
However, the vote panel prevented this exercise that its goal was to ensure that voters were included, while those who are not eligible are excluded.

After the revision, the number of registered voters dropped from about 7.9 crore in front of Sir to 7.24 crore afterwards, with 65 Lakh invalid voters excluded. The exercise was questioned by groups of civil rights and opposition parties at the Supreme Court, where the final hearing is planned on October 7.
