Greater Bengaluru (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao pulled up officials over the delay in land acquisition for the long-delayed Ejipura flyover and directed them to expedite the same.
“Lands belonging to St. John’s Institution at two places, Kendriya Sadan under Central Government and Indian Institute of Astrophysics must be acquired for the project. Officials must coordinate with all the concerned authorities, resolve outstanding issues immediately and take possession of the required land,” he said.
Meanwhile, the civic body has to acquire 230 m² of private land to widen the road and construct a footpath near the Ejipura junction. Mr. Rao directed officials to expedite this acquisition as well.
Ejipura project status
Raghavendra Prasad, Chief Engineer, GBA, said that of the total 762 segments to be cast for the 2.38 km long flyover, 584 have already been cast. Of the 584 completed segments, 454 have been assembled, he said.
“Getting the St. John property at the earliest will speed up progress and support the timely completion of the project,” he said.
Widening of roads in Mahadevapura
DS Ramesh, Commissioner, Bengaluru East City Corporation, visited the Hoodi area and directed the officials to speed up the work of widening more roads in the area, as per the Revised Master Plan – 2015. These projects are expected to ease traffic congestion in the area.
He directed the officials to develop the road between Hoodi junction and Hope Farm into a model road. The road, now 80 feet wide, is proposed to be widened to 150 feet as per RMP – 2015. He also inspected Hoodi – Kurudu Sonnenahalli Link Road and Hoodi – Sadaramangala which are also up for widening. He directed the officials to speed up land acquisition for these projects to ensure that the construction work starts soon.
