Abhishek Sharma hits fastest T20I century by an Indian; surpasses Rohit Sharma’s record of 30-ball 100

NEW DELHI: Abhishek Sharma set the Arun Jaitley Stadium on fire on Thursday, smashing the fastest century by an Indian in men’s T20 internationals during the third T20I against Afghanistan.Abhishek reached the milestone in just 30 balls, breaking Rohit Sharma’s previous Indian record of a 35-ball century in the format.The left-handed opener slammed 10 sixes and nine fours in a whirlwind to surpass former captain Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring the fastest T20I century, which he scored against Sri Lanka in December 2017.Abhishek’s century was also the fastest by any batsman against a Test playing nation. Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to face Team India in the third and final T20I of the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.Shreyas Iyer-led India have already sealed the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead after winning the first two encounters.India will be aiming for a clean sheet while Afghanistan will be looking to end the series with a win.
