A realtor is said to have fired three rounds from his licensed gun after his team lost in a badminton tournament in Kurnool on Sunday (July 26, 2026) night.

According to Kurnool Deputy Superintendent of Police Raghavendra, the Kurnool Badminton Premier League has been going on at the Badminton Academy in the city for the last four weeks. “On Sunday morning, Kaushik’s real estate team lost in the semi-finals. Mr. Kaushik arrived at the Academy around 7:00 PM on Sunday evening and opened fire. He fired two shots in the air and another on the ground,” DSP said.

No one was injured, but the shooting caused panic among residents who confronted him. The police arrived at the scene and took him into custody. Kaushik used his licensed weapon, a .32 caliber revolver, Mr. Raghavendra said, adding that they would write to the district collector and recommend cancellation of the license.

Kaushik was taken into custody for questioning.
