The pilot health project in Kuppam has led to significant improvement in health services and paved the way for its replication across the state, said Zoya Ali Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner, Nutrition and Allied Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Ms Rizvi reviewed the initiatives of the National Health Mission (NHM) with District Collector Sumit Kumar during a PowerPoint presentation here on Friday. Senior officials from the medical and health department were also present.
The review covered Ayushman Bharat centres, immunization drives, maternal nutrition programmes, school health interventions, tuberculosis and leprosy care and deworming campaigns. Ms. Rizvi expressed satisfaction that health services are effectively reaching rural communities and suggested organizing orientation programs to further strengthen delivery at the field level.
Mr. Sumit Kumar highlighted the administration’s focus on extending welfare schemes to the underprivileged population and said that cluster-level training was being planned for health teams to ensure better implementation.
