The Cardiology Department in the Government General Hospital, Kozhikode (popularly known as Beach Hospital), recently saved a patient who had a “double infarction”, which is 100% blocking the main arteries on the left and right sides of the heart.
According to sources, the patient arrived in serious condition at the emergency department of the hospital 1. April. The test was found to have a double infarction or a combined heart attack. A patient who was on the verge of death due to the lung edema (accumulation of fluid in body tissues) caused by heart attack, low blood pressure, heart valve insufficiency and cardiac arrest, was immediately admitted to the cat laboratory.
Doctors say that patients rarely achieve hospitals in such a condition because they usually die before medical care. Although they receive medical attention, treatment is very difficult and expensive, even in private hospitals with better equipment.
However, the cardiologist and nursing staff at the General Hospital completed the angioplastic procedure in two main coronary arteries through the radial artery on the arm on the patient within 30 to 45 minutes. The following tests have shown that the drawing of the heart, which was very bad, has improved completely and the valve leak has decreased significantly.
Doctors in the government sector point out that this is an important incident with regard to the lack of medical staff in Kozhikode. There is no permanent place of cardiologist in the General Hospital. Hassan Jasheel, a cardiologist appointed on the basis of a job arrangement, manages matters. The report on the Indian administrator and the general auditor of India has recently stated that the population ratio in the district is 1: 7 245. The total number of sanctioned functions of doctors to the medical department in the Kozhikode district is only 448.
