A grand welcome awaits former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on his first visit to his native Mysuru after stepping down as Chief Minister.
The Mysuru City and District Congress Committee said they have planned a reception in Mr. Siddaramaiah’s honor at Highway Circle in Bamboo Bazaar in Mysuru on Saturday.
Mangala Vadya or auspicious musical ensembles and a cultural program of folklore ensembles will perform for the welcome.
“Mr. Siddaramaiah has been practicing people-centric and ideological politics for the last 50 years. He has created a new record by serving as the Chief Minister of Karnataka for a cumulative eight years,” a Congress statement said.
“It is our moral responsibility to give him a grand welcome,” the statement added.
According to Mr. Siddaramaiah’s tour schedule, he is scheduled to arrive in Mysuru at 5 pm before proceeding to Kempayyanahundi in T. Narsipura taluk, which is part of the Varuna constituency.
He will stay overnight in Mysuru and attend a meeting of the Congress party to discuss the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state on Sunday before returning to Bengaluru on Monday.
