The state-of-the-art Google AI Lab was inaugurated at Vignan University on Wednesday (June 4, 2026), becoming the first university in Andhra Pradesh to create such a facility in partnership with Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise for Education.
Navisha Prabhakar, Regional Director of Education, Google Cloud, at the inauguration, described the lab as the beginning of a transformative technology journey that will prepare students, researchers and faculty members for a rapidly evolving future driven by artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence is creating unprecedented opportunities across sectors such as healthcare, fintech, robotics, automation and engineering, she said, challenging students to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Ms. Prabhakar said Google will support Vignan students through research initiatives, industry collaborations and problem-based learning projects, enabling them to gain hands-on experience and become globally competitive professionals.
B. Mallesu, CEO of Henotic Group, a Google partner, said Vignan is the first university in Andhra Pradesh to set up a Google AI Lab. He announced that several centers of excellence in engineering, medicine, pharmacy and management will also be set up.
Students and teachers will gain access to the Gemini Enterprise for Education, which will provide hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI and Agentic AI.
Chairman of the Vignan Educational Institutions, Lavu Rathaiah, said the laboratory will function as a dynamic innovation center rather than a token facility.
The university’s CEO Meghana Koorapati said the institution aims to transform its campus into a true artificial intelligence hub and produce industry-ready talent equipped with advanced AI skills. The program was concluded by thanking distinguished guests and academic representatives.
