A Congress MP seeks an inquiry into the alleged diversion of a canal from Kondapochamma Sagar

Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has urged the Telangana Irrigation and CAD Department to order a comprehensive inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the Kondapochamma Sagar Lift Irrigation project, following a media report.

In a letter to Irrigation Department Secretary and CAD E. Sridhar on Thursday, the MP referred to allegations that a special canal was created from Kondapochamma Sagar to create Panduranga Cheruvu after 2016. The report also alleged that water from the tank was pumped into a well spread over about three acres in the Erravelli farm belonging to former Chief Minister Rao Chandrashekar Rao K.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy said the allegations warrant a thorough investigation in the interest of transparency and accountability in the use of public irrigation infrastructure and water resources.

He asked the department to examine records of projects, approvals, details of canal construction, water diversion and pumping and expenditure incurred from public funds. He also requested verification of the facts and circumstances related to the reported activity.
