Police Hyderabad Cyber Crimes booked a case after a complaint by an urban doctor who claimed to be cheating on an online renovated notebook dealer.
The complainant, a consulting nephrologist working at a private hospital, said on May 21st he bought a notebook for 47,999 GBP. Product listing claimed top functions and two -year warranty for parts and work. However, after the payment was made, he did not receive any confirmation and later found significant discrepancies in the specifications.
When he contacted Hilaptop.com, identified as a Poe Lalwani, via WhatsApp after locating his Instagram profile, he was told that he had only a full HD display and that the original specifications were inaccurate. The seller allegedly tried to persuade him to switch to another model and refuse to issue a refund and quotes policy without a return.
The complainant left a list of products examined by a technical expert who found that the specifications were copied from another top notebook. On this basis, the doctor filed a complaint about computer crime. The case is currently under investigation.
