The Indian Election Commission wrote a letter to the leader of RJD Tejashwi Yadav to provide details of the epic number, the day after he discarded his name that his name was missing in the proposal of election roles published on August 1, 2025.
The Indian Election Commission (ECI) wrote Tejashwi Yadav, the opposition leader in the Bihar Assembly on Sunday (August 3, 2025) and asked him to provide details of his epic issue. This comes the day after he claimed that his name was missing in the state proposal of an election role published on Friday (August 1, 2025).
Soon after his statement ECI on Saturday (August 2, 2025), he said that Rashtriya Janat (RJD) leader made “unfounded” claims and provided an excerpt from the role proposal where his name was present.
The confusion, however, prevailed over the fact that the epic number quoted by Mr. Yadav was different from the one that the survey authority gave him in the list.
Mr. Yadav claimed that he voted in last year’s Lok Sabha elections using the voter with the epic number of the RAB2916120, which is now missing in the design of the role. Instead, the ECI list shows the name of Mr. Yadava with the epic number RAB0456228.
The secret of the missing epic
Mr. Yadav is a voter in the Digha assembly seat, but is the Raghopur seat as MLA in the State Assembly.
The election registration officer (ERO) of the constituency was written by RJD leader. “It should be noted that at a press conference held on 02.08.2025 you said that your name is not listed in the proposal of voters. After the investigation it was found that your name is stated on the serial issue 416 number 204 (Bihar Animal University library building).
During his press conference, Mr. Yadav filled his epic number RAB2916120 on the official ECI website and entered CAPTCHA in front of the gathered journalists and showed them that his number was missing. Mr. Yadav then claimed that ECI worked as a BJP cell, and asked how he would attack the upcoming elections of the assembly if his name did not even appear in the list of voters’ designs.
The ERO added: “According to you, from the quote of your press conference, your epic number RAB2916120 is. The letter does not mention any term in which Mr. Yadav must provide his epic card for investigation.
“Crime to have two voters ID”
RJD spokesman Chittaranjan Gagan, who responded to the ERO letter, said that ECI, acting on the BJP command, wants to distract from the questions about the role that Mr. Yadav and other Indian bloc leader.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) urged ECI to take the knowledge of two voter cards by Mr. Yadav and to file a case against him. At a press conference addressed by BJP spokespersons and all its allies in Bihar, they asked where the two epic figures came from and noted that it was a crime that has one individual who has two voter identification cards.
Meanwhile, ECI said that from 15:00 3. August no political party has come in the Bihar asking for removal or inclusion of names in role proposals. However, ECI received 941 such demands and objections from voters.
