A bridge was built through Vettaar, connecting Neelakudi, where the central university of Tamil Nadu is located, and Nagakudi in the Truvarur district.
Bridge is built at the price of 6.5 crore and has a length of 75 meters and 10 meters wide. The bridge built by water resources (WRD) departments was opened to the public.
For Cunn employees and the inhabitants and students of various villages, it came as a great support for commuting between the campus in Neelakudi and Nagakudi, where residential quarters of the university are located.
The university, which was established under the Central Universities Act, was established in September 2009. It operates on 500 acres of land in Neelakudi on the outlet of Tiruvarur. The university has 3,000 students belonging to different parts of the country. There are about 170 employees.
In the absence of direct connectivity, the university employees had to go on a perimeter trip to get into the campus. Similarly, residents and students of Nagakudi and neighboring areas had to travel for a long time. Given the difficulties of commuting between Nagakudi and Neelakudim, university officials emphasized the need to build a bridge over Vettaar, the distribution of Vennar in the Delta area. The construction, which began at the beginning of 2024, has now been completed.
The newly built bridge reduced the distance between the campus and the quarters of employees by km.
“It is a great support for us. We can get to the premises in minutes. It helps us a lot,” says M. Kršnan, vice -chairman, central university in Tamil Nadu.
