During the Mamdani meeting, he also said that he would explore the Municipal Ministry of Education for inefficiency and explore the use of the upcoming FIFA World Cup to strengthen the New York infrastructure, according to Bloomberg.

Mamdani’s meeting with the leading businesses is coming when he tries to consolidate wider support in what could be more competitively general elections than usual for deep blue New York. He will face the reigning mayor Eric Adams, Andrew Cuomo (running as independent), Republican Curtis Sliwa and lawyer Jim Walden.
