US President Donald Trump announced a pioneering plan where NATO’s allies buy “top” American weapons for Ukraine. Trump, who stood with NATO chief Mark Rutte, revealed European nations such as Germany, Finland and Norway, will finance weapons while the US produces them.
Rutte called the “really big” agreement, which confirms that it includes a patriot a missile defense desperately needed to stop Russian air attacks.
The agreement satisfies Trump’s request for European allies to pay for the defense of Ukraine, and Rutte remarked: “He feels strongly … we are increasing”.
The first weapons, including the Patriot Systems, arrive “within a few days”, according to Trump. This urgent shipment comes after Russia has launched record drones, of which 728 drones overnight last week. Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelsky, begged 10 patriot batteries to protect cities from ballistic missiles that recently killed dozens in Kiev and Dnipro.
Rutte promised “massive numbers” of weapons over the defense of air, including ammunition and missiles to help Ukraine to fight back.
Putin’s 50 -day selection: Peace or 100% tariffs
Trump gave Russia a 50 -day deadline to agree to the ceasefire and endanger “very serious” 100% tariffs on Russian goods and sanctions on countries buying Russian oil, unless any agreements are achieved.
The US President expressed frustration from “pleasant” phone calls by Vladimir Putin followed by missile strikes: “I don’t want to say he’s a murderer, but he’s a tough person”. Rutte warned Putin to take this threat seriously and noted that the increase in weapons in combination with the tariff could force negotiations.
Shift in strategy after stopping assistance and frustration
This means Trump’s strongest attitude against Russia after months of unsuccessful peace interviews. Previously, his administration stopped weapons shipments three times, including air defense missiles last week.
The new approach created by European leaders to maintain the US support allows Trump Arm Ukraine and at the same time boasts “NATO pays 100%”. Ukraine welcomed the “positive decision” while Russia refused the threats like “all steam”.
