
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasin was sentenced to six months in prison on Wednesday by the International Tribunal of Crime (ICT) in contempt for court proceedings, according to local media reports.
Sheikh Hasin’s sentence verdict issued a three-member bench of the International Criminal Tribunal-1 headed by Judge MD Golam Mortuza Mozumder.
The tribunal of crimes was also condemned by Shakil Akand Gobinaganj bulb in Gabandh for two months of prisoners.
This means the first time the leader Awami League was convicted in any case since she left the office and fled from the country 11 months ago.
Sheikh Hasin, whose nearly 16 -year -old Awami League regime was overthrown last year in an uprising led by a 5th August student, forcing her to leave the country to India, was charged with mass killing during the uprising and forced disappearances earlier in court.
The case is associated with the main prosecutor who filed a contempt for court complaints against Sheikh Hasin and Shakil Alam Bulbul 30.
The formal accusation stated that Sheikh Hasina was a master of inhuman deeds, such as crimes against humanity, murder and burning of bodies throughout the country during the movement of the government in 2024. These crimes were organized for its orders.
“There are 227 cases against me, so I have a license to kill 227 people,” Sheikh Hasina reportedly said in an alleged sound clip that was viral a few months ago.
Later, the criminal investigation (CID) department (CID) of the police conducted a forensic examination of the interview and found its authenticity. The court of court applications were then submitted in court.
The prosecution stated that Sheikh Hasin did not appear personally or provided an explanation through a lawyer, or after the publication of a newspaper announcement. In this situation, the court can now punish persons who learn by law.
