Russian President Vladimir Putin interrupted the event and left the stage to participate in the phone call of US President Donald Trump. In the viral video, Putin could see how he took part in the event when he said he said he didn’t want to keep Trump and could take it personally.
In a light moment, Putin said, “It’s unpleasant to get him (Trump) to wait; he could have been offended.” The audience encouraged laughter and applause at his notes.
Trump had previously confirmed that he would talk to Putin. A few hours later, he said that the call did not bring any progress to the Russian-Ukrajin ceasefire.
“We had a conversation. We talked about many things, including Iran. We were also talking about war in Ukraine. And I’m not happy today. We haven’t made any progress today,” Donald Trump said.
What did Putin and Trump talked about?
Reuters quoted a helper Kremlin, who said that Vladimir Putin told Donald Trump on Thursday in a telephone call that Moscow would not enter his goals in Ukraine, but still interested in negotiating settlement with conflict.
Putin reportedly said that Russia is ready for constant negotiations, but that Moscow has remained focused on removing what it calls the “root causes” of the conflict, now until its fourth year.
“Our president said that Russia will achieve the goals it has set, that is, the main causes that led to the current state of affairs,” Kreml Aide Yuri Ushakov said.
“Russia will not give up these goals,” he said he said. “He also talked about the readiness of the Russian party to continue the negotiation process.” The call lasted almost an hour.
The Kremlin Aide Yuri Ushakov also said that Trump raised the question that he had given a rapid end of the war in a large conversation.
