The Kerala High Court has denied bail to a student accused of circulating morphed pictures of classmates and teachers
The Kerala High Court has denied bail to a student accused of circulating obscene morphed images of fellow students and teachers, saying the charge against the petitioner was serious and prima facie indicated a premeditated offense on his part.
Justice Kauser Edappagath observed that the petitioner was the owner of two social media accounts through which photographs of female students were shared and offered for sale along with allegedly obscene video content. The investigation also revealed that payments were collected through a UPI account linked to him and that his social media accounts also contained obscene and child pornography.
The petitioner claimed that there was no evidence linking him to the alleged crimes and that the reasons for the arrest were not disclosed during the arrest. However, the records show that the reasons were communicated to him and his relatives, the court noted.
The student was the second accused in the Ernakulam college incident where a case was registered on the complaint of the school management.
