A heavy blast damaged the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway line in the north Rajasthan‘s Sriganganagar district on Tuesday evening (November 3, 2026), prompting a multi-agency investigation into the alleged train sabotage attempt. A passenger train passed through the section barely 45 minutes before the incident.

The explosion, which occurred near the village of 50GB, shattered two concrete railway sleepers under the tracks, dislodged the rail clamps and created a two-foot-deep crater at the site. On Wednesday, the North-West Railway canceled four train services on the route as a precaution.

Villagers living about 200 meters from the site heard the explosion and informed the police. While forensic experts were taking samples from the site, security agencies were investigating crucial aspects of the intensity of the blast and the nature of the explosives used.

Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police Harishankar Yadav said teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have arrived to join the investigation. “The district police is conducting an investigation. The exact nature of the blast will be determined after receiving the forensic report,” Mr. Yadav said.
