Harsh Dubey runs riot in Ranji Trophy, picks nine wickets against Madhya Pradesh

Harsh Dubey produced a career-best performance in the Ranji Trophy as he took nine wickets to bowl out Madhya Pradesh for 209 in their first innings against Vidarbha.

The left-arm spinner returned figures of 9 for 53 in 23.1 overs, including four maidens, in a dominant display at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. He claimed nine of the ten wickets, with Nachiket Bhute taking the second.

Dubey’s latest performance adds to an impressive body of work in domestic cricket. The 23-year-old earned his first India call-up in May 2026 after a record-breaking 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season in which he picked up 69 wickets and scored 476 runs.

He was subsequently included in the Indian squads for the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan, made his ODI debut on 13 June. He was also part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad setup in the IPL.

Against MP, Dubey began his spell by removing Saksham Purohit for 21 and Chanchal Rathore for 13. He then dismissed skipper Rajat Patidar for just 2 before Shubham Sharma fell for 16.

Saransh Jain offered some resistance with 34 off 41 balls, including seven boundaries, but was caught lbw by Dubey. Arshad Khan was next, caught and bowled for 12, while Kumar Kartikeya managed just 7.

Atharv Mahajan has been an outstanding batsman for Madhya Pradesh. He scored 85 off 123 deliveries, hitting five fours and three sixes and was the only batsman to cross the 50-run mark.

Dubey eventually ended Mahajan’s innings and Samarth R took the catch. Ravi Kiran was his latest victim, bowling for 1 as Madhya Pradesh were dismissed for 209 in 66.1 overs.

Avesh Khan remained unbeaten on 13 while Bhute finished with one wicket.

Dubey’s nine-wicket haul was his best individual performance in first-class cricket and the best bowling figures by a Vidarbha bowler in the Ranji Trophy, underlining why he has become one of the most talked-about all-rounders in the domestic game.
